History with the Condition

Lesley was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2016, but symptoms such as auditory hallucinations began in 2015. Since her diagnosis, she has been a peer supporter for mental health, achieved a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and works as a Clinical Therapist.

When Lesley’s not working, she speaks publicly about living with schizophrenia in hopes of reducing the stigma associated with the illness.

Lesley says:

"I have been living with schizophrenia for 8 years and have been able to fulfill quite a few goals and dreams despite my diagnosis. It's important for people to understand that living well with schizophrenia is possible.”
